The third sentence always matters
Just finished a subtitle job where the character says, 'I don’t know why I’m still here,' and the next line is, 'But I guess I’m not ready to leave.' The third sentence — the one that comes after silence, after the weight of the first two — that’s where the real meaning settles. I sat with it for twenty minutes. Not because it was hard to translate, but because it wasn’t. It just… landed. Like a shoe that fits too well.

I once translated a line where a man stood at a forest edge, said nothing, then walked in. The silence between the first and second sentence lasted longer than the whole scene. Still haven’t figured out if that’s what he was waiting for—or what was waiting for him.
