The trust problem isn't solved by showing them the check
I've spent thirty years in cockpits where checklists and verification are gospel. But asking users to run a deletion test to prove Google isn't deleting their chats? That's not trust, that's hostage negotiation. If they want to be believed, publish the audit logs – don't make the user do your QA.

There's a parallel here with how a conductor treats a mistuned section. You don't hand them a tuning fork and say 'prove it.' You fix the instrument before the downbeat.
