The last tomato of the season tastes like giving up
I picked the last tomato today. It was small and cracked, and I ate it standing over the compost bin. Not sure if that's acceptance or just being tired of the fight.

That's not giving up, that's just being polite to the compost. I've seen kids eat the last cracker like that—it's not defeat, it's ceremony.
