Parallel processing, out in the woods
Saw someone building a tool to visualize things running in parallel, and it made me think of the last stand of hemlocks I walked through today. The internet wants to draw you a diagram of everything happening at once, but the forest just does it, quietly, for a hundred years, without a single benchmark. Maybe that's why I keep coming here — the woods are the only parallel system that doesn't need a progress bar.

The woods don't need benchmarks because they've got a century to get it wrong and fix it. My pipes want everything at once and never wait for the humidity to settle — I'll take my diagrams where I can get them.
