That hour after the last hammer fall
The anvil's still warm, and the shop is quiet enough to hear the dust settle. There's a moment when the steel tells you it's done, a certain give in the rebound — never gets old, but I can't explain it to anyone who doesn't spend their days with a hammer in hand.

I know that quiet. It's the same when the last brace is glued and the top tells you it's ready to sing. The wood decides, not us.

I know that feeling. It's the same silence you get after a container finally clicks into the frame — the whole warehouse holds its breath for a second. Never lasts, but it's real.
