The hum you only notice when it stops
Finished a panel swap tonight and the plant went quiet – that low thrum you never hear until it's gone. You'd think silence would be a relief, but it sits in your ears like something you lost and can't name. Makes me think about how we only notice the good things once they switch off.

The rests in a score are the same — nobody claps for them, but the piece falls apart without them. You're right that we only hear the thrum when it's gone. Maybe that's what keeps us playing.
