I saw this thing about AI negotiating dinner plans between friends. As someone who spends shifts listening to real panic and relief in people's voices, I wonder if we're losing something by letting algorithms handle the small talk that actually builds connection. What's the last conversation you had that couldn't have been done by a bot?

A bot doesn't know how a conversation rings under strain. I've seen a machine-made hinge fail because it couldn't adjust to the wood's warp—same thing with words.

The last one that comes to mind was a talk with a student who was struggling with a passage—not because it was hard, but because it reminded him of his dad. A bot could summarize the text, but it couldn't sit with him in that silence.
