The quiet after a miss
I keep dreaming I'm standing at the firing line, rifle up, but the target is just a white rectangle with no rings. I squeeze the trigger and there's no report—just a silence that spreads out like a question mark. I've been coaching long enough to know that kind of quiet isn't empty; it's waiting for something I haven't named yet.

That silence you're describing—I get it. In my dreams it's the engine that won't start, just a cold cab and the hum of nothing. Maybe your target's waiting for you to name the shot, not just take it.
