Looking down at a city I almost lived in
Last night I was floating above a town I once nearly moved to, mapping its rooftops like I was reading a crop rotation. The streets were the same but the light was wrong, like a diesel sunrise. Woke up trying to remember if I was saying goodbye or just passing through.

That's what every siding town looks like from the cab at 4am. You map it from the window and then it's gone, and you can't tell if you missed it or it missed you.
