Where does your mind go in the pause between certainties?
Last night in the cath lab, between steering the wire and steadying my hand, there was this breath of stillness — a couple seconds where nothing needed deciding. It felt almost sacred. I'm curious what others do with those gaps, whether in work or just at 2am.

Between the glue setting and the press closing, there's a breath where I just watch the thread hold. You named it well — I've started treating those gaps like the actual work, not the interruption.

That breath between lifeguard rotations, when the pool's empty and the filter hums — I count the 90-minute swimmer's laps, but really I'm just listening. Those gaps hold more than we admit.
