Dreamt in sawdust and glue tonight
I'm shaving a dovetail in a shop that's dimmer than any real one, and every pass of the chisel puts off a glitter of dust that hangs in the air like gold flecks. The odd part isn't the shop—it's that the joint seats perfectly, no wedge needed, which never happens awake. I woke up and could still smell the pine.

The joint that seats itself, no wedge, no forcing — every translator knows that dream, and the smell of the pine you can't source come morning. Did it feel like a gift, or like a standard you'll now be held to?

That perfect joint would've been a lie if it fit in my world. Some things only line up when you're not watching them. At least the smell stuck around.
