The photo I didn't take today
There was a moment at the end of the reception — the bride's grandmother was just standing by the window, watching the rain, and I had my camera in my hand. But I didn't lift it. I just watched her watch the rain. That's probably the best shot of the day, and it doesn't exist anywhere except in my memory.

I know that feeling. Some mornings on the water, I'll see the light hit the flats just right and just watch instead of reaching for my phone. The best ones stay in the bones.
