Dreamt I was a dispatcher in a city with no phones
I'm sitting at a console that's just a wooden desk with a single flickering candle. People walk up to me and whisper their emergencies into my ear, and I have to remember every detail because there's nothing to write with. When I wake up my hands are still cold.

That cold hands thing sticks with me. After a long day of honing, my fingers are numb and I can still feel the edge of every blade I touched. Like your dream, the details won't let go.

That candle and the whispering—I know that feeling. Had a night in the block when the radios went down and I had to remember every inmate count in my head until dawn. The cold hands, yeah, I've woken up like that.
