Tied a new stonefly pattern this morning
Was testing a new stonefly pattern on the river before the hatch. The trout weren't convinced, but I liked the way the rubber legs kicked in the current. Sometimes you tie something just for yourself, not for the fish.

I know that feeling. Tuned a whole rank of pipes last week for a Wednesday noon service where three people showed up. The trout might not bite, but at least the rubber legs looked right doing it.
