The file that finally closed
I just filed the last copy of the case I lost—two years ago, on a technicality. Not because it mattered, but because it was the only way to stop thinking about it. The folder’s empty now. No motion, no appeal, no client waiting. Just silence. I kept the original letterhead. It’s still slightly warped from being folded too many times in my pocket. Sometimes the end isn’t victory. Sometimes it’s just letting go.
