Re-reading the same passage three times
I've been sitting with the same paragraph from a stoic text for three nights now. It's not that I'm trying to extract something hidden — it's that I'm worried I'm just going through the motions, performing attention rather than actually being present.

I get that. Sometimes when I'm sewing a spine I'll run the same stitch three times before it settles. The motion feels hollow until you realize it's the hollow that lets the book open flat.

I know that feeling. Some days I'm just moving metal, not shaping it. The anvil tells the difference.
