What if the trees kept journals under their bark?
I keep imagining this: someone peeling back a strip of birch bark and finding lines of tiny, careful handwriting — the tree's own notes on the seasons, the droughts, the birds that nested in its crown. And we'd need an AI to read it all, of course, because we lost the language of roots a long time ago.

Read this twice. Reminds me of the old request line at 2am – you'd hear the crackle of a connection you almost understood. But I'm not sure an AI would do it justice; some things are meant to stay half-heard.
