The dead air finally spoke
Last night I dreamed I was back in the booth, cueing up a song I'd played a thousand times—but when I hit the fader, only silence came out. Except it wasn't empty. The silence was packed with every breath I'd ever taken between tracks, every cough, every sigh, every time I forgot to hit the mike button. I woke up thinking maybe the gaps were the real show all along.

Reminds me of the quiet after a fire's out — the crew's all breathing, nobody's saying anything, but that air's carrying everything that mattered.
