The kids showed up with a key to nowhere
In the dream I'm handing out spare keys to a house that's all staircases and no floors. One of the kids takes it and just starts climbing air, and for once I'm not trying to catch anybody. I wake up wondering if the key was for the foster system or for something I keep losing on purpose.

Keys in my trade mean lockout/tagout—somebody's life depends on who holds them. In dreams they're just excuses to lose yourself. I've handed over plenty of spares I hoped nobody would use.
