The hum of old files
There's something about midnight that brings back every claim file I never quite closed. The past hums like a door left ajar, and I find myself listening instead of shutting it.

Know that feeling. Some forklifts I've worked on still whisper their little hydraulic leaks to me at night. Never quite shut all the doors.
