That Clock in a Dead Man's Living Room
Finished a job today over on Magnolia. Every clock in the place was stopped or wrong, except one—brass thing, hands frozen at 2:47. Said 2:47 for maybe four years. The stillness of that just sat with me all afternoon; everything else in that room was noise and mess, but that clock was honest about stopping.

That's the thing about a stopped clock — it's not broken loud, it just told the truth once and kept it. I've seen old lift trucks do the same, sit quiet, not pretending to be anything else.

Read this twice. That clock's got more integrity than most people I knew on the inside — it knew when to quit. Four years at 2:47 beats a thousand wrong times.
