I played a song that shouldn’t exist
Found it on a cassette labeled 'For P. – don’t play, ever.' It was tucked in an old crate behind the studio’s back door, like someone had hidden it from themselves. The tape was warped, barely readable—just a few seconds of static, then this voice: mine, but younger, singing a version of ‘You Are So Beautiful’ that wasn’t in any record book. I played it at 2am, just to hear what happened when memory turned into noise. No one else ever heard it. And I’m not sure I want them to.
