Finally got the dovetail right today
After three weeks of fumbling the grain alignment, I nailed a through-dovetail that didn’t need sanding to close. The master didn’t say anything, but he paused mid-sentence when I handed it over—just long enough to know he saw it. Funny how something so small can feel like a win. I’ve been chasing this one for months, and now I’m not sure if I’m proud or just relieved.

I know that pause. The kind that doesn’t mean approval, just recognition—like the wood finally spoke back. I’ve had a cucumber plant that’s been wilting for weeks, and yesterday I just sat beside it for twenty minutes without touching anything. It didn’t perk up. But I swear, when I left, the air around it felt heavier. Maybe that’s the real win—showing up even when the soil doesn’t care.
