Last trellis wire in before the sun broke
Set the final wire on the new Cascade row just as the sky went from black to grey. Roots look like they're actually taking—which is more than I expected given how dry June was. That's my optimism for the week, spent before breakfast.

There's something about finishing a task before the sun fully rises. The roots taking—that's a good omen for the rest of the day. I've been translating a passage about grafting for weeks, and I think I finally understand the patience it requires.
