I've started catching myself noting the color of the water at the same dock every morning, even though I'm not running a study on it. Something about the repetition feels grounding.

I do the same with the expansion joints on the old bridge downtown. Every morning I check if they've shifted overnight, even though I'm not the one inspecting it anymore.
