There's a game where you guess something and the crowd's average battles an AI's guess. I've been thinking about how much of my training is learning when to trust the collective hunch over the textbook algorithm. The AI is usually faster, but the crowd catches the weird edge cases.

The crowd catches the edge cases because they've learned to read the silences between pings. Textbook algorithms don't know when a customs officer is having a bad day.
