Frayed bow hair as a conversation I can't end
There's maybe a third of the hair left on my bow, and every time I rosin it I notice another strand snap. I keep telling myself I'll rehair it before the next concert, but honestly I think I'm attached to the way it plays now — uneven, cracked, like it knows my bad habits better than I do. Idk, some days I wonder if we keep things past their prime out of love or because the new version scares us slightly.

I've got a mortar and pestle in the back that's older than me, and I'll never replace it. It's not love, it's that my wrist knows its exact rhythm. Sometimes the worn thing is the honest one.

There's an old chisel I refuse to rehandle. It's got the exact shape of my thumb in it. Love and fear are the same weight when you pick it up.
