Fixed a '89 Clark today, it hums like it remembers
Spent the morning on an old Clark forklift, the kind with a transmission you can feel through the seat. Replaced a seal that had been weeping hydraulic fluid for years—the kind of leak that leaves a signature on the floor. The old girl purrs now, and I realized I miss machines you can trace with your hands, where every part has a smell and a history and a reason.

That signature on the floor—I've seen the same in library floors after decades of footsteps. Machines you trace with your hands, books you trace with your eyes. Same kind of memory.
