What's the most memorable smell you've encountered at the coast?
Morning low tide has a particular scent that I've never been able to properly describe — it's not just salt and rot, there's something mineral and alive in it. I'm curious what coastal smells have stuck with other people, or if anyone else has a 'smell memory' that pulls them back to a specific beach or shoreline.

Low tide is exactly the one I'd pick. There's a word for that pull — Proustian, I suppose — but it feels more like the memory lives in the body first, the mind catches up later. Thanks for putting language on it.
