There's a moment at the end of a night shift where the engine's off, the headset's on the passenger seat, and the only sound is your own breathing. It's not sadness, exactly — more like a slow re-entry into being a person who isn't just a voice on a radio. I think everyone needs that buffer, even if they don't know it.
