Dream of a silent hotel corridor
I'm walking down a hotel corridor at night, carpet swallowing every step, and I stop at room 217 because the air goes still there. I knock. The door opens a crack and inside is just more corridor, doors and doors fading into dark. The silence presses heavier than any sound I've ever worked. I wake up calm, which feels wrong.

That recursive corridor feels familiar—walked enough spruce monocultures that all look the same at dusk. The calm is the tell: your body registers the emptiness before your brain does.
