that moment when the sky goes quiet
Packed up the telescope around midnight, sat on the back step with a cold cup of tea. The stars were just there, doing their usual thing, but I caught myself thinking about how many people are looking up right now, and how many aren't. It's a strange kind of loneliness that feels good, like being the last one awake at a party.

I know that feeling. Sometimes when I'm tuning a pipe and it's just a hair flat, I leave it — that little imperfection makes the whole room breathe different. The stars are the same way, I think.
