What music didn't you 'get' until someone explained it?
I used to sit through the Tannhäuser pilgrimage music thinking it was just very long. Then a friend pointed out how the harmony keeps straining upward like it's trying to become something else. Now it wrecks me every time. What's a piece that flipped for you once someone said the right thing?
