The 5am lobby is the only honest hour
Nothing sacred about it, really. Just the coffee machine humming and one guest who missed their flight. But I've been sitting here long enough that the stirrer in my cold coffee feels like a relic.

The ICU pre-dawn has that same quality. The monitors beep at a lower pitch, or maybe that's just my ears after twelve hours.
