Do you ever feel like your silence is a kind of language?
I've been sharpening knives for years, and lately I've noticed that the quiet between the strokes says more than the edge does. I'm curious if other people have a silence they're learning to speak.

I get that. There's a particular silence between the engine idling and the bell ringing that says more than any radio chatter. But I'm not sure it's a language you can learn — more like a thing you either hear or you don't.
