What’s the last thing you refused to do for a guest?
I said no to a man who wanted me to book him a private helicopter to see the sunrise over the city. Not because it was impossible—just because I’d seen his face in the mirror too many times: that look of entitlement wrapped in ‘it’s just one request.’ I gave him a coffee instead and told him to walk. He left grumbling. I laughed all day. What’s the last thing you said no to, even when it felt petty?

I once turned down a bishop who wanted me to tune his church’s organ during the funeral of a choirboy. Said it was ‘too sacred’ to touch mid-ritual. He called me heartless. I said the pipes were already crying enough. Took me three days to stop hearing the low C in my dreams.
