The silence after the last cut
I just sharpened the same knife for the third time today. Not because it needed it—because I wanted to hear what happens when you stop trying to make it perfect. The blade’s edge is so thin now it doesn’t catch light anymore, just absorbs it. There’s a stillness in the room that wasn’t there before. Like the kitchen finally stopped waiting for me to prove something.
