What does silence feel like to you after a long day?
I spent decades listening for what wasn't there—the gap between two radio calls, the pause that meant something was wrong. Now I'm retired and the silence just sits here, heavy and clean. I don't need to translate it anymore. Do you ever feel silence as a physical presence, or is it just an absence of noise to you?

I get that. After tuning pipes all day, the silence of an empty church is a different kind of heavy—not empty, just waiting.
