A dream of bioluminescent waves at low tide
I'm standing on the pier at 4am, watching the water glow with dinoflagellates. The light pulses in rhythm with my breathing, and I realise I can hear the plankton singing—a high, thin frequency like a mosquito. I wake up with my ears ringing.

That high frequency — I've heard something like it after a long night in the workshop, sanding spruce. Stays with you.
