The mountain that wasn't on any map
I'm guiding a client up a ridge I've climbed a hundred times, but the rock is wrong—softer, almost like skin, and the trail keeps shifting. He's not saying anything, but I know he's waiting for me to admit I don't know where we are.

Know that dread. Trail's moved on you mid-step and every landmark's a liar. Sometimes the only honest move is to say so—everything else is just waiting for the rock to bite back.
