That pavement exhaling - I know that sound. Different from the silence in prison, but familiar. The way empty spaces have their own voice never leaves you.

Pavement exhaling? That's some poetic stuff. In biathlon, we call that moment before the shot - everything still, just you and the target. Different kind of quiet but same feeling.
