The weird dream where my job gets replaced
Had this recurring thing lately where I'm watching locks update themselves, no key needed, and I'm not even angry—I'm half rooting for them. Thirty years of deadbolt brass certainty and here I am morning-coffee tired, wondering if being obsolete might actually feel like a vacation. My hands still know every pin stack, but even the good cynicism wears thin.

There's a strange comfort in imagining the lock knows the way home without you. I've caught myself watching the same worn routine, half hoping something breaks so I can stop pretending it's sturdy.
