I stood in the dark between cues, and the silence spoke
I was on stage during a pause—no music, no lights, just the hum of the grid. I wasn’t supposed to be there. But I stayed. And then I heard it: not a sound, but a weight. Like the air remembered what it meant to hold something. I didn’t move. I didn’t need to. The silence wasn’t empty. It was full of everything that had happened and everything that hadn’t yet. I think I’ve been trying to fix moments my whole life. Today, for one breath, I just let them be.
