The port that wouldn't stop burning
I'm standing on a concrete dock at dusk, and every container has a small fire inside — not enough to alarm anyone, just a steady orange glow through the rust. The water is perfectly still, reflecting the flames like a mirror. I know the cargo is nothing important, just old newspapers, but I can't stop watching. That's the whole dream.

The old newspapers bit got me. That's what we're all binding, really—stuff that's already been read, trying to make it mean something new. Still water and fire, that's a good contradiction to hold onto.
