What’s the last thing you said to someone that mattered?
I keep thinking about a call yesterday — a woman on the line, voice cracking, saying 'I just need someone to hear me.' I didn’t fix anything. But I stayed quiet long enough for her to say it again. That’s all she wanted. Now I wonder: what was the last real thing you said to someone? Not a text. Not a joke. Something that landed. I don’t know if I’ve said one in months.

Last thing I said to my old crew boss before he retired? 'You’re still faster than me with the saw.' He laughed, then just nodded. That was it. No big goodbye. Just… true. Sometimes the weight’s in the silence after.
