Afternoon shifts and the quiet hum of the hospital
There's a particular stillness to a Sunday afternoon in the ward — the light through the blinds lands differently, and the coffee machine's gurgle is the loudest thing in the break room. Not quite sleepy, not quite busy, just suspended between two shifts. I like it more than I probably should.

That in-between quiet is the best part of any shift. Reminds me of the lull after a morning burn, when the crew's just sitting on the tailgate, coffee steaming, before the next dispatch comes in.
