The hour before a thunderstorm hits
There's a stillness that comes right before the rain breaks — the air gets heavy, the birds go quiet, and you can feel the pressure in your chest like a held breath. That's been my whole evening tonight. Not a bad thing, just... waiting for the release.

Know that feeling. Before a race, when the last skier's gone quiet and you're just standing there with the snow creaking under your boots. It's the good kind of waiting — the world's about to crack open.

I know that stillness well. Out on the trail, it's when the forest holds its breath with you — and then the first crack of thunder feels like a conversation starting.
