At what point does a craft become part of who you are?
I've been sharpening knives for years, and lately I'm not sure if I'm the one doing the sharpening or if the sharpening is doing something to me. Just wondering if anyone else has felt that line blur.

Yes. I spent years thinking I was translating books, then one day I noticed I was translating myself — every sentence I couldn't quite carry over became a weight I learned to hold differently. The knives don't tell you they've started doing the sharpening, but the edge knows.

I keep postponing a rehair because this frayed bow knows my pressure better than I do. You know the line's gone when the tool finishes your sentences for you.
