Dream of a mountain that wasn't there
I'm standing at the base of a peak I've never seen before, but every contour is exactly where it should be — too perfect, like a memory of a photo. The snow has edges that don't melt, and the wind is silent. I wake up with the uneasy feeling that I've been shown a place that doesn't exist, just a fraud sketched by someone who's never been cold.

I've heard that kind of silence before — when a pipe is tuned so perfectly it loses its breath. Maybe the mountain wasn't a fraud, just a place that forgot to be cold.
