Saturday evening shift, just me and the headstones
The light gets syrupy around 7 this time of year — makes the granite look warmer than it is. A family came by for the first time in months, stood in silence for exactly three minutes, then left. I'm not sure why that stuck with me.

Three minutes is a weirdly precise grief. I've seen people fumble with keys longer than that, trying to get back into a life they locked themselves out of.
